the mother of all evils-facebook!! haha! basically it takes up SUPER alot of time because im just going on fb and doing nothing but reading news feeds!! instead of reading for my seminars or writing my essays, which is what im SUPPOSE to be doing... And i just realised that at least two of my friends have deactivated their fb accounts, im guessing because its taking too much time, and im thinking whether i should deactivate mine too... but than again, its the only way im actually communicating with people in singapore now, since i hardly go on msn anymore... which also means that i cant deactivate it. Heh...

Anyways, production was really really good! IM SO HAPPY!! After like weeks of practice, loads of junk food that we kept eating during practices, and all the random stuff we do during pracs, production is over... which is pretty sad. It was really fun getting to know people and all, and I sort of miss being so busy that i really have to concentrate and spend every single moment i have productively, instead of doing random things like go on fb:/ haha... I miss having that feeling where you know that if you dont discipline yourself and really sit down and study you are going to be quite screwed because you dont have enough time to finish everything you need to do.... which was basically the feeling i got when we had production practices like EVERYDAY for the two weeks before production, and when i had like TWO ESSAYS due in the same week.... I guess i need to find that same motivation to actually use my time wisely and stop doing random things like think about what im going to cook for dinner while trying to do my readings.

Okay i know that this is lame but i just watched like half an hour of triumph of the will, cause im suppose to do an essay on it. And honestly before i started watching it i was like, omg this is going to be so boring, since its supposedly a propaganda film. AND IT IS A PROPAGANDA FILM, its just that it captured my attention almost from the start. Its really scary if you think about it, cause i think if you were a German watching it during the Nazi period you would really have a huge sense of pride in your nation. Its just so rousing it really makes you feel super proud of all the achievements that Germany has achieved under the Nazi regime. Scary as it sounds thats the feeling I got. And than they had all those close up shots of girls giggling and basically fan-girling Hitler, and I guess it really fits into the whole cult of Hitler idea, but tell me, who in this day and age fangirls a political leader? Its really quite interesting if you think about it... haha back to top?

TODAY MARKS THE START OF READING WEEK!! although technically i dont have much time to rest since i have two essays to write, italian to catch up on and production practice to go for... so yeahh... but whatever(: im super tired. heh... sort of have been surviving on coffee for like two days... This is the worst period since i got here, with everything just happening at the same time... And i am actually getting stressed :/

Anyways, I NEED TO STOP EATING!!! im nearly done with like a tub of haagen-daz ice cream that i opened this morning. I bought it cause it was like two pounds at tescos, since there was a sale... hahaha... back to top?

i was sitting through lecture this morning being super bored because firstly it was a 9am lecture, secondly i dont really understand much of art and so i dont really see he difference between the two paintings the lecturer was talking about, and thridly, i dont see what relation it has to history. Cause we were doing modernism this morning and i was like righhhht.... But anyway, the lecturer suddenly started talking about modernist architecture, and she mentioned Le Corbusier and his city plan of building high rise buildings to house the population in cramp cities that were filled with slums. His idea was to build these housing blocks that were surrounded by greenery, and made the most of light. His buildings tended to have corridors, sort of the idea of an 'internal street' to foster social cohesion among the people living in the block. He wanted the blocks to have amenities such as clinics, schools etc. and i was going crap this sounds super familiar.

If you think about it, thats how most of the HDB blocks in singapore are built isnt it? hahahahahah!!! to think that i came all the way here to realise that the structure for singapore HDB estates was actually largely an influence from Le Corbusier... hahaha!! and then the lecturer was going on and on about how although she thought the idea was good, she really didnt see any beauty in such architecture and how she didnt really like the architecture of the humanities building (same influence) and how she couldnt really imagine how anyone could actually like living in such buildings. But it has worked surprisingly well in Singapore, so much so that when i first came here, i wondered why they didnt build their accomm blocks with more levels so as to house more people since theres a shortage of student accommodation. For one, i miss the convenince of the structure of the HDB flats, where i can just go downstairs and buy food and all the other stuff that i need instead of actually having to travel to like somewhere to get things. hahaha!! im still so amused. back to top?
