But of late I've sort of realised that it can be a fantastic motivating force... to study harder because everybody around you is doing super well, and is mugging like crap, and so you feel compelled to mug like crap too (not necessarily a good thing but when you need motivation i guess its good). GRAHH I REALLY NEED TO STUDY HARDER... but anyways, mell was talking about how in austria their train system works on an honour system. Meaning that there arent any barriers that prevent you from boarding the train if you dont pay, but people would see you as uncivilised if you dont pay and just get onto the train... and it works in austria... And i was just thinking, isnt that quite a wonderful way to make use of peer pressure and public perception to ensure that society functions without having to have a system of checks to ensure that everybody is behaving properly? its quite cool the whole idea of how public perception can compel one into doing something that is not quite part of human nature, that is of course assuming that human nature is selfish... which i personally subscribe to... haha!
